Applications of Akuma/Gouki's Ultra 2 (Demon Armageddon)

While Akuma/Gouki's Raging Demon ultra yielded great damage (600, according to the frame data) in vanilla Street Fighter 4, the only real setup (in terms of hits) that it had was to land a focus attack and put the opponent in the crumple state.

However, his second ultra (Demon Armageddon) in Super Street Fighter 4 is like most other character's ultra combos in the game; they can be comboed into through special and possibly normal moves, as demonstrated here:

The breakdown of the combo above is as follows:

Move in Sequence Move Damage Scaled Damage Running Scaled Damage
1 j. HK 100 100 100
2 cr. LP 30 100 130
3 close HP 100 80 210
4 First hit of Demon Armageddon Ultra (the reverse roundhouse) 50 30 240

Note the moves three and four in the sequence (close HP -> Demon Armageddon Ultra), seen at 0:01.  You can see the Combo Damage meter change from 210 (the running total after the close HP) to 240 (the first hit of the Demon Armageddon Ultra).

Because it didn't reset to 0, this verifies the ability to use his Demon Armageddon Ultra in a combo.

The interesting thing here is exactly how the combo is achieved with the close HP.  If the frame data from vanilla Street Fighter 4 for his close HP is the same (and it seems to be, given the damage outputs are the same with what the combo meter says in the video compared with his existing frame data), then Akuma/Gouki actually has negative frame-advantage on hit (-6).  Because of this, the combo is not a link, it's a cancel.

While the Demon Armageddon does considerably less damage than the Raging Demon, but it opens Akuma's greatest offensive option up tremendously while lowering the risk/reward ratio for the move in general (of course, people can always opt for the Raging Demon if they want to play risky).
