When do you want to use Gen's Mantis Ultra 2?
Gen's Mantis Ultra 2 seems much weaker than his Mantis Ultra 1. Although it does slightly more damage, it is only grey damage. So just like the "damage" you take from a focus attack your opponent will be able to heal from it. In order to actually kill them it needs to do twice as much damage as they have remaining life. It seems to have identical setups to Mantis Ultra 1.
If it didn't kill but did loads of normal damage, or did grey damage but could kill I would use it constantly.
Is there something I'm missing, or is this a legitimately bad Ultra? Or am I just soured on SSF4 Gen?

Currently, the Ultra of choice for Mantis style is Gen's Ultra 1 over Ultra 2 for the following reasons:
- They pretty much have the same setups, most of them involving a j.HP or j.HK, a Focus Attack, or a juggle (e.g. off a Super)
- The damage for Ultra 1 is higher. The tradeoff is that while Ultra 1 is subject to more damage scaling, it's preferable to the "grey" damage of Ultra 2 (which only counts as two hits).
- Ultra 1 has more frames of invincibility on startup, ten versus Ultra 2's eight.
- Ultra 1 has armor-breaking capabilities
- Ultra 1 has a greater range than Ultra 2 (you have to be very close to land Ultra 2)
To the first point, here is a video with some Gen Mantis-style Ultra 2 setups:
As you can see, they are pretty much the same (if not less) than the Ultra 1 setups.
