What are the best ways to use Fei Long's Flying Kick/Chicken Wing?

During Inthul's run at East Coast Throwdown 2, I noticed that there was a good amount of utilization of the Flying Kick/Chicken Wing for a number of situations, some of the more notable being:

  • Escaping crossups after knockdown
  • Punishing projectiles
  • Crossing up on knockdown

For the above (and others) when and how would be the most effective ways to utilize Fei Long's Flying Kick/Chicken Wing?

Alot of people call CW a cheap move and thats its too easy to spam. Against a good player most people will constantly look out for CW, they'll DP or ultra it to punish it. To use CW effectively you have to condition your opponent to block more and worry about pokes and rekkas more to get their mind off of CW. You use cr. md punch, rekkas, focus attack, cr. fierce to get their mind off of CW. Then CW will go unpunished most of the time. It beats low hits up close, it can cross people up when there up against the wall. Against Ryu, Sagat, Viper, and some more it will cross up if there blocking low against the wall. So you can F.punch CW them on wake up and if they block the F.punch they will block low and get hit with cross up which you can combo into. You can then use Md. CW to fake the cross up. Thats his CW vortex. Bait the DP when you do that, they'll get frustrated and throw it. It can go through projectiles witch will scare characters like Dhalsim and Sagat into using it which eliminates a part of his game. On wake up, if they jump in cross up you can use it to escape, but they might option select so don't abuse it. CW closes the gap against ranged opponents well, and against Abel it's great. It will beat grabs and tech throw setups, most pokes, and if they roll it's no big deal unless they have ultra 1. Know people will look for the CW to DP it when they hit you alot. It's easy to get frustrated with Fei and want to throw CW if you get rocked, stay calm use normals into rekkas more. CW will assist your offense once it's been established through normals and rekkas.

Aka it's not a cheap move they just don't know how to block/counter it right  :p

To sum down what the almighty Inthul said:

-Great pressure against fireball game

-Way to get out of  getting crossed up on wake up

-Options against Abel

-Use it when an enemy blocks low for crossup

The only thing that you need to remember so that most are expecting CW and you need to take their mind off it until they're hit or in blockstun because of it.
