How do you get time to oil up against an aggressive character with Hakan?
I'm really starting to believe that Hakan is the worst character in the game, but I really want to give every character a chance. I tend to believe that if I'm consistantly losing with a character then it means I'm just doing something wrong. I've learned that the secret to victory with Hakan is staying oiled up. All of his moves are complete crap when he's not oily and it's impossible to do anything with him when he's dry. But if an opponent is going off on you, there is no time to oil up.
His oil rocket can't get someone off of you since the range is garbage, his slide is too slow, his diving grab is horribly obvious and low priority and his normals are terrible for poking and the only thing that knocks down to even give you a chance of getting oily is his sweep which is easily punishable. Is Hakan really a lost cause? Someone tell me what I'm missing. How do I get people to back off when not oily?

Against an aggresive opponent, the forward throw (forward + LP + LK:![]()
) is probably your best friend. The reason for this is twofold. First, an overly aggressive player is going to be very close to you. Because of this, they are almost always in range to be thrown (assuming you have the opportunity).
The second is the fact that the throw is an untechable knockdown, meaning that if you are able to land it on an opponent, they can't get up quickly. This guarantees a period of time before the opponent is active again which you would use to perform an oil shower.
Additionally, you can always opt to try and land a level two or level three focus attack on your opponent. Again, like the throw, because your opponent is aggressive, they will be in range to be hit by a focus attack. If you hit them with a level two or level three focus attack, then they will enter the crumple state, which like the untechnable knockdown, will guarantee that they can not do anything for a set period of time. It's during the crumple state that you would opt to oil up (unless a better option was available to you).
Of course, if you can somehow keep your opponent off of you and out of range, that this is a good opportunity for you to oil up as well, but this is assumed.
