Running a Tournament at work.

I am trying to run a tournament at work.

I have a pool of 32 or so people that want to play over and over. I am guessing that a double elimination for all 32 players will be fun for starters but what do I do after that?

What is the next tournament especially if all 32 want to continue to play? How can I keep tournaments exciting for a group of 32 for as long as possible?

It seems like running through 32 people 3 times or so will play out.

Thank you,

You could try making a ladder system (say 50 points or so per win in the winners bracket, and 25 in the losers) and seeding the tournaments based on it, and maybe have like a small trophy for the end of a few events.

Also, another thing I would like to mention is, are there any existing tournaments in your area? Having 32 people head to a local tournament could be a boon for your local gaming scene, and it would keep your tournaments from being stagnant as there is likely going to be more people than just your coworkers at a given tourney.

In my own experience, it's important to make sure you have enough set ups for people to play on. I run a small tournament in MD, i only have 2 tvs. Things would go a little smoother and be a little more exciting if you can really just run crazy matches all day will keep people interested in who comes next. I would probably use the endless battle format. You could split 32 people in groups of 4. The top four with the most wins out of there group goes on to compete against the other top four. Tiering in important, so casuals will play a role in determining the pools. Sorta like the World Cup. To rematch them, jumble up the pools again, and see what happens.

But, as long as people have fun and don't feel like there are spending to much time watching in between there matches, you'll be fine. Just one more thing to remember. This is a community based game. So don't be afraid of people talking and sharing information in between matches. Time in between is cool. It's a must. Cause if you wanna do it again, you gotta make sure people get a chance to get to know eachother. Make sure you have a sign in sheet with name/main/email. That way you can keep track of everything. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how things could be run. Hope everything works out for you.
