Rufus vs Blanka Matchup Difficulties

I have absolutely no idea what to do as Rufus in this matchup. Moving forward gets me either swept by a slide or hit by a Blanka ball, which I can't figure out how to punish. Any tips? Thanks.

So first off, dont feel bad about this matchup, if you arent solid on it it can be the most horrible fight of your life.

In my oppinion this fight involves three things, closing the distance, beat em up time, and laming it out time.

Closing the distance: Slowly traveling forward, blocking things that come your way. If you block a blanka ball WHILE STANDING then walk forward a tiny bit and crouching fierce. This is training mode type of practice because the timing CAN be tight.

If he does a slide from too far and you see it coming, jump and dive kick to punish. If he does it too close, then he will not recover in time, and you can punish, best option is to get the knockdown.

REACTION SPEEDS ARE IMPORTANT IN THIS FIGHT. YOU WILL BE REACTING ALOT UNTILL YOU CREATE A HOLE. IF WALKING FORWARD IS GETTING YOU HIT YOU NEED TO UP YOUR REACTIONS.

Once you get the knock down...

Beat em up time.: Cross up dive kicks will stuff alot of blanka wake up options, outside of ex up ball and stuff of that nature. So you can force the blanka player to block untill they get meter. In this time its important to know  dive kick , lk, mpxxFP GT.  This will hit him even if he is crouching. Mixing that up with grabs to constantly get the knockdown is important. Do not let blanka move around freely because thats when he gets to play his lame style.

Once you get the life lead and have been pushed off...

Blanka does not have a fireball, has no way of getting in without walking and or doing silly shenanighans that you can read up on how to beat from a distance. If you have a life lead and once again this is my oppinion, give him the same lame approach that he gave you before you had the life lead. Let him try to guess on getting in and if he messes up you can knock him out once again.

Ultra choices:

Ultra 2:  I promise you this ultra if you invest the time to learn the situations and are fearless will win you this fight.

Blocked blanka balls, blocked up balls, whiffed up balls, whiffed ultra ETC. Can all be punished with the     ultra which does monster damage. This ultra is also very helpful at the lame it out stage of the fight.

Ultra 1: Lacks the situational juiciness you want in this fight.

Little things you may already know.

Blocked rainbow ball  = EX SS or jump RH into EX SS or ultra. Basically BIG DAMAGE.

I think I have covered most of what you need to know. There is situational stuff but with this information perhaps you will figure out the next step. Good luck my friend.

I've rape most of lame blanka players. Their main problems comes from defence :

- after dive kick, do his mix up with throw. Most blanka just mash their electricity defense. Mix it with standing HP when the tech trhow become obvious then combo.

- after blanka ball : punish with down HP if not to far or you can counter it with down jab if timed correctly.

- the standing LK >> HP BNB combo sometimes whiff, jsut replace it with MP for 100 % accuracy.

- Ultra 2 to punish a close blanka ball or Blanka's ultra 1.

- When blanka ultra 1, on the beginning, you can ex or simply snake strike it when it goes up.

- Sweep (down HK) a lot with blank players to meaty them with dive kick and force them to ultra 1 (which you can cross up then punish it with ultra 2 or snake strike).
