How can you Focus Attack Dash Cancel into Ultra?

How did this guy do it?

At the beginning of the video, they demonstrate a number of characters absorbing a hit when performing a Focus Attack and then activating Ultra immediately after the absorbed hit.

This is not really dash-canceling the focus attack, although it seems like it.

What is really happening is that they are executing the EX versions of moves that have armor (Boxer's EX Dash Punches, El Fuerte's run, for example) which can then be canceled into another move.

In the case of the video, that move is an Ultra.

Notice that it's not shown for all characters, only ones that have an EX move that has armor properies.

Here is a video showing Boxer performing the EX armor cancel into the Turnaround Punch (TAP):

Here is one with Guy in Super Street Fighter 4, using the EX Run that cancels into his Ultra (and in slow motion):

And finally, one with Makoto using her EX Command Grab into Ultra:

This above video is particularly helpful because it shows a cleaner set of inputs when executing (as opposed to the Guy video).

also i never understoood charge characters fadc into ultras the buttons dont seem possible

i mean just think on how it sounds for guile to charge a flash kick ultra but do a fadc right before it

not only that but i would think someones mind would be racing for them to put together a combo right before it especially in a competition I NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET MY LEVEL THAT HIGH!

the imputs on the makoto vid were a bit to fast but are you bassically pulling off an ex move and then putting in the ultra inputs directly after or are you doing an ex move and dashing at all? it doesnt seem possible to pull these moves off so fast but if they are i'd love to learn....

and does the controller matter at all some1 find out if this is possible on dpad
