As a Rufus player, am I expected to Ex Snake Strike short jumpers like Ryu on reaction?

I'm just finding it really hard to do and im wondering if this is just not practical or my reaction times are horrible?

Depending on the range, standing HK is another good option since it juggles the opponent.  You can follow that up with snake strike, galactic tornado, or Ultra.

I would argue that EX snake striking isn't always the answer; especially if you miss. Most of the time when a ryu jumps in on you, you'll find that just doing a standing HP is a solid anti-air attack. Also, if you don't feel confident in your anti-air game you can always just block and get ready.

Rufus's best anti-air is his cr.MP. It has priority over all jump-ins (with very little trades)

can you combo into GT from this at all?? (just thinking creatively...) - Da Citizen Mar 17 '11 @ 9:46

Personally, i try to meet them in the air with h.k

From there you have an abundance of options...

including

h.p;

ultra 1;

m.snake strike -> ultra 1

Standing HP is also very good. Snake strike is very flashy but at the end pretty useless cause you have to guess. Stick with down MP or standing HP, or Jump HK if you anticipate early enough.

I don't think its 100% down to guessing. By round 2 you can usually have worked out how your opponent reacts to certain situations. Also, l.snake strike will hit them even if standing and build you some meter :) They sometimes back off a bit then too :) - Da Citizen Mar 17 '11 @ 15:26
