Cody option select for his Ultra 2

I read  that it is possible for Cody to use option select for his Ultra 2, but I don't understand the concept of how to apply option select for Ultras in general.

For option select tech throwing, it is straightforward that you do db + LK + LP, if the opponent throws you will tech the throw automatically.   Otherwise, cr. short would come out instead.   But how does this concept be applied to the Ultra motion?

Any additional information on this would be appreciated.

There are two option selects that I'm aware of with Cody's Ultra II. The first one is using a Standing Short (LK). The concept is to punish a back-dash. So when you are pressuring the opponent you should walk forward and hit standing short. When the standing short is still in it's active frames you should input the Ultra. If you input the Ultra correctly during those active frames and the opponent didn't back-dash and they blocked the St. Short the Ultra won't come out and you can continue your block string. If the opponent did back-dash then your standing short will wiff and the Ultra II will come out and the dust kick will catch the opponents back-dash as seen here in this video at around 50 seconds in.

I believe the same concept can be applied to Cody's hop kick (I'm unaware of the command of the move) this one would probably be easier due to it having more active frames meaning there is more of a chance of you doing the option select correctly and hitting the Ultra during those active frames.

It will take practice, but the benefits are clear to see and your ground game would be boosted hugely.

In addition to DJay2411's example, Option-Select's Cody fundamentals video illustrates another U2 option select setup involving jump-in HP. In the video's example, if Dhalsim teleports or backdashes away from the jump-in HP, the U2 will come out. If the HP is blocked, you can go for a throw or continue your blockstring.

(Approximately 8:30 in the video)

I believe I've seen videos showing a similar set up for a neutral-jump HP OS'ed into U2 against backdashes and teleports, but I can't find that video to include at the moment.
