Leaving Blanka, picking up Cammy. What to learn?
Ok, so I'm working on picking up Cammy. I'm having a bit of difficulty with her, mostly due to using all charge characters during SF4.
I like how she plays, and takes advantage of the space on the screen. She feels like a safer version of Blanka to me, including being more effective against Shotos. I've learned a few bad habits though.
Mostly, it really comes down to me being dependent on mind games and such to win matches with Blanka in the past, and I've come to enjoy using FADC to mix up my game to make Cammy more effective. But, that only takes me so far it seems.
Blanka (and other charge characters) users, how to you transition to a character that plays completely different?

I'm not a Blanka user or anything, but I can tell you two things:
1) Cammy is not a safer version of Blanka in any way. She has almost nothing in common with Blanka playstyle wise.
2) If you think Cammy is the safer version of ANYTHING you are sadly mistaken. Cannon Drill is very unsafe from most ranges, Almost any character can punish her Cannon Spike and with the exception of her Cannon Strike all of her other moves can be easily reacted to and countered if you don't use them cleverly.
That said, she is an awesome character and one of the most important things to learn with her if probably the Cannon Strike low to the ground. What you have to do is enter the Strike motion and after than jump forward and press the kick button you want. This move opens up most of her mixup and rushdown game and can even be used to build meter from a distance.
Thanks for the response. I've begun to pick up what you are saying from playing against friends and in the training room as of late. It's a different game completely with her!
When I said that Cammy was safer it was because of a few things from my early observation/comparison against Blanka's weaknesses. Mostly that he can get punished off Blanka balls all day.
The low cannon strike seems to be a good asset, I'm working on doing it consistently without jumping forward all the time. I'm averaging about 3 in a row before things fall apart.
