Tournament Fight Stick

Besides the obvious "practice" of which I am doing. does anyone have advice on transitioning from a pad to stick?

DO NOT play with the stick between youre third finger and little finger.

the stick needs weight so if you want your moves to come out accurately it's best to control the stick between your ring finger and your pinky.

I agree with Da Citizen. Experiment untl you've found a grip that's comfortable for you. I myself still haven't decided 100% on a grip of choice, and because of it, I've been known to switch grip styles in the middle of combos haha. You don't want something like that happening to you, trust me.

Aside from grip, and this is going to sound stupid, but just slam on the buttons. even if there isn't a game playing, grab the stick and input fireballs and ultras for no reason, over and over again. I did it while I watched TV, while on the phone, just to get my hands, mind, and most importantly, my muscles used to the idea that I need to be able to control this thing without thinking about it. (This sounds so dirty haha.) It's called muscle-memory. You do something enough times, and your body can almost do it without trying. I like to go by the "28 Days" rule. Once something is done faithfully for 28 days, you'll rarely do anything to deviate from it.

Hope this helps.

Try watching DSP's trial vids, as he gets some of his mates to do some, and evryone has a different grip.

i just recently switched from a ps3 pad to a TE. my best advice is play as many different games as you can with it. just getting comfortable with the stick is is the biggest hurdle. when i switched i found some games that where a good fit for arcade stick :
- final fight double impact,
- tmnt turtles in time,
-peggle,
-soul caliber,
- tekken 6
-1943.
Any old arcade game it will work great. This will give you some breathing room from street fighter and ease the transition from a pad. Best of luck with the switching over
