What is a good alternate character for a defensive Balrog/Boxer player?
I have been playing with Balrog since Street Fighter 4 and am still continuing to play with Balrog ever since the release of Super Street Fighter 4; however, I think now is the time for me to select an alternate character to start practicing with. I was wondering which character would probably be best to choose as an alternate considering that I play a very defensive style with Balrog.

I'd say if your play style is defensive then maybe Honda would be worth a shot. He deals out great damage and has solid health and is mainly geared towards defense. Also, you can take a look at Guile if you want a defensive character with a fireball (heck he arguably has the best one in the game).
I could recommend Dudley. He is similar to Balrog as his normals are also very very good (that and they are both boxers..) but he's also very different because his play style is pretty much pure rush down with a bit of poking thrown in. I think you'd have fun playing him.

Seriously? Gouken's greatest weakness is that he has (almost) no useful links.
i would try the total opposite of your playstyle. try rufus, sakura, seth(both offensive and defensive), cammy, makoto, adon, or bison. very fun characters imo.
If you like playing defensively, Guile is the character for you. There's really nothing else to say about it. :)
I'm just like you... and i'm trying to learn to play dudley now... i was thinking rufus but like Cheesus said dudley is a lot like balrog with his normals... i also tried rufus and akuma, but dudley was the best.... so far i think it was the best choice... :)
to be fair im trialling gouken and have not been playing him for very long (didnt bother using him at all in vanilla lol) and have NOT been playing street fighter for that long, so im still trying to find my roots.
playing with dudley is admittedly fun ill agree, but its really is all trial and error in the end
try using sum really new characters i reckon, im currently maining adon because i like his hyper aggressive style, while also using gouken as an alt character because of his linkable combos and projectile keep away game.if youve mained balrog then i would recommend someone whose totally different from rog, maybe a projectile character. in the end you should at least feel comfortable with your alt character, dont just pick him/her because its a popular choice or a high tier character, but because u can comfortably play the character well, and understand its play style. hope that helps ^_^
