Tornado Throw setups with Abel

Hey Guys. I am maining Abel for some time now. But I still have really big problems using the Tornado Throw. I dont get the feeling of using it anytime. I always feel it´s not going to work. Any tips maybe?

Would be very nice.

Thank you

To set Tornado Throw up properly you just need to understand its properties and a few other things.
1) Abel's Tornado Throw actually only loses to Zangief's Spinning Piledriver in range. LP version has the most range and least damage also with the biggest recovery time. HP version has least recovery and does most damage but doesn't reach as far
2) Tornado Throw has throw invincibility so it will beat out every single throw (command or normal) except Ibuki's Raida
3) EX version doesn't have throw invincibility but is immune to attacks instead
4) Startup for each version of the move is 5 frames.
5) In this game you can throw your opponent immediately when they wakeup unlike in other Street Fighters
Now, due to TT's range you can effectively tick throw with it. Do a couple of jabs and TT. If they kept blocking they will eat the throw. Mix it up by doing Abel's basic combos/blockstrings and occasionally pull a fast one. Generally any time you expect them to keep blocking just TT. A few examples of when to expect blocking:
- after a blocked jump-in - after a jab (or two)
- after a Change of Direction (preferably LP-version, because it has the least recovery)
Because TT has throw invincibility, you can try replacing throw escapes with TT. This is risky of course, but it will beat predictable throw attempts straight up. Definitely important tool against other grapplers, when you expect/bait them to go for grabs you can throw them instead. Eg:
- after knocking a grappler down, dash next to him and immediately TT (this is a risky gimmick)
- after a blocked jab or two (this is a risky throw tech)
- if you are in range when a grab Ultra-animation activates you can attempt to Tornado Throw through it
EX TT is good on wakeup as long as they don't go for a throw. Examples:
- after being knocked down and jumped on
- EX TT yourself out of a loose blockstring
That covers most of it I hope.
PS. I friggin' hate the reply system, keeps screwing up all my efforts at making the post READABLE.

hey i did a lil digging and i came across this video on optionselect watch the 1st 1 and it should give you some ideas on when to pull off the abel throw now from what i've seen it looks like the formula is to chain together a few reggular moves along with abels juggles and rolls to confuse the person your fighting hope this helps

im not an abel user so im not too sure but i would say if you go to practice just try to work it into your natural style of play im a fei long user so i have a pattern of normals that i chain together and every once in a while i throw in some new moves to see if they work out if they do then i go to ranked n try em out some more

idk if that really helped or not but its just my take on the situation
