How to perform a walking 720 with Zangief, Honda, T.Hawk, etc...

I've seen Vangief do his walking ultra a million times and I've heard that he can do it because he uses both the stick and the d-pad to pull it off. What I'm wondering is, can you do it any other way? Or am I gonna have to buffer it in dashes and attacks for the rest of my life?

I am not sure how many frames it takes for Zangief to jump after holding up. However, your goal here is to essentially cleanly input a full 720 after your first "up" direction within the amount of frames it takes for him to leave the ground after getting a jump input. This is easier to do using both analog and pad, because I believe you can force Zangief to remain grounded with one while doing the spins very quickly with the other (ostensibly the joystick). However, (relatively few) people have been doing it on stick for years.

Zangief has 6 frames of jump startup. You essentially have 6 frames from your first up to complete the remainder of the input to get a standing 720.

If I recall, it is possible to shortcut the method. Since up-back counts as an up-input, you can do HCB, UB, HCB, UB and it should count as a 720. You may also be able to shave off F and just start your HCBs at DF. Try experimenting. Your best input is by trying to shave off as many inputs as you can entirely.

Here's a video demonstrating:

well idk about using both sticks. but what i do on fightstick is- forward, down forward, down, down back, back, up back. That is the 360 motion. so just do that twice and your golden. lol get it...golden.

you just have to be super fast and input (from forward) a full 360 then another 180 plus the last up back. you can also buffer the 360s in a jab or short if you get the timing down

yea i know a bit about the using the analog stick and dpad same time i use to do that to buffer moves with vega but i advise against it  reason is that you have to hold the controller a certain way so you'd have to be REALLY commited to pulling the ultra off and if they attack you b4 you do it your screwed cuz you have to press something or switch your hands back to the regular position in order to block or punish focus attack w/e

so at the end of the day if you want to do this walking 720 you might have to switch over to fightstick
