Cody vs. Shoto strategies
Whats the best strategy for Cody against shotos?

Zonk Knuckle (Bingo)
Zonk knuckle is your best friend when fighting against shotos. Try to almost ALWAYS be charging a zonk and close the distance to the shoto, if he throws a fireball when you're in range to Zonk him, release it and it should go right through his fireball for some nice damage
Fake Rock
Fake rock can be a very deceptive trick if the opponent doesnt see it coming, and can lead to big damage off of a jump in. If you are in range for a jump in on the shoto, and you both throw your projectiles, the shoto is most likely going to throw another knowing he has the superior projectile. Do a fake rock then jump in right over his fireball and you get a free jump in. The opening scene to this VERY helpful tutorial shows this example in action:
