Blanka Wakeup Options

I've recently made the switch to Blanka and I'm liking all his tools but I have one problem.  On wake up if the opponent is putting up any pressure I have no idea what wake moves or techniques I should be using.   Any help with what moves to do on wake up with Blanka?

Pay attention to what your opponent does after he knock you down.  He may try to crossup, or jab into throw etc.

If in doubt about him trying to trick you into a throw, just hold down back (block) and try to throw.  This will give you an option to tech his throws, or Blanka will just jab at him.

If I'm put under pressure in a corner and have no EX meter,  I 1. Make sure I'm watching for cross ups (so block correctly). and 2. If possible, do a FK Rainbow ball out of there.

If you have EX meter, u should EX UP ball, or EX Rainbow ball if you're feeling lucky to knock the opponent down.

Sometimes, and depending on your opponent's character and skill, you can just mash electricity and get some easy damage when he jumps at you.

Another tactic is to simply dash out or even focus dash out.  I only recommend this if you're a good player, because if you time it wrong you could get screwed.

At the beginning of this video you can see how T SRAI dashes out of the crossup from Daigo.

This brings up another point:   Watch videos of pro Blanka players on youtube.  You

can learn a lot.  Some uploaders like 0Shinakuma0 show the command inputs and

you can learn that way too.

Hope this helps.

Blanka's lightnings are not a good option on wake-up? - SRKX Sep 13 @ 19:11

Well you've got EX Vertical Rolling Attack if they're right on top of you or jumping in.  EX Rolling Attack if they are shooting fireballs at close range. (However, Guile's light Sonic Boom can still hit you at close range even if your Rolling Attack hits him so be cautious of that.)  Electricity sometimes works but can be easily baited and I wouldn't recommend it unless they're trying to cross you up.  Wake up ultras, as with any character, should only be used if your opponent has made themselves obviously vulnerable.  And of course there's the universal tactics of backdashing and blocking.  NEVER underestimate usefulness of simply blocking.  But of course be ready to tech grabs.
