Evo Championship Series 2010 Predictions

As the time passes, Evo 2k10 approaches. So, I'm wondering what people are expecting this year for competition in Super Street Figher 4.  This is a pretty broad question, but I want to focus on a few examples:

1. Which coast/region do you expect to do the best?

2. Which coast/region will provide the biggest surprise?

3. Who do you expect to see in the top 8?

4. Which characters do you expect to see in the top 8?

Most importantly,

5. How do you expect yourself to do?

1. Which coast/region do you expect to do the best?

I feel that the east coast will be the dominated coast at EVO this year. I am not saying this because I live in Jersey but the player themselves in quality is a lot higher Vs any other coast.

2. Which coast/region will provide the biggest surprise?

I feel that the south, mainly Florida will have players shocking everyone this year at EVO. So many great players popped out of nowhere at the tourneys in their area and they really put Florida on the map, IMO anyways.

3. Who do you expect to see in the top 8?

In no particular order:

·         Justin Wong (EMP)

·         Sandford Kelly (EMP)

·         Dr. Chaos (DMG)

·         Inthul (DMG)

·         Rico Suave (DMG)

·         Lud(DMG)

·         Flash Metriod (EMP)

·         Diago (Japan)

Notice the pattern?

4. Which characters do you expect to see in the top 8?

Dudley, Sagat, Guy, Ryu, Guile

Most importantly,

5. How do you expect yourself to do?

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend this year however I am sending some of my best guys out there to do some damage. In a recent episode of the Super Turbo Podcast, I mentioned that DMG Warriors will place within top 10 no less than top 20.

These are all good responses.

I'm just hoping to see a variety of top players come out and show how good they are.  I'm thinking the NW will do a lot better this year. There's a lot of talent that will suprise a lot of you guys.

I expect to do fairly OK this year. My goal is to make it out of pools. If I can do that, I'll be more than happy.

Oh I didnt realized that you mentioned Justin. Just to clarify something that Tri Force mentioned. EMP as a whole they dont represent any coast; they represent EMP. So I guess we are both wrong with that about Justin.

@ Blake Van poucke I did mentioned that I live in Jersey. It doesnt matter where I would live at or anyone for that matter. Some people will claim their area where they live at to be the best but when it comes to major tourneys that all coasts compete in and take a look at the major top 10. You will see a good mixture of players from different coast.

Lets take last year’s results from EVO for example and here are the listing for top 8:

1) Daigo Umehara (Ryu) Japan
2) Justin Wong (Rufus, Balrog, Abel) NY
3) Ed Ma (Akuma, Zangief) CA
4) Sanford “Santhrax” Kelly (Akuma, Cammy) NY
5) Long “ShadyK” Tran (Akuma) CA
5) Eduardo “Vvv scrub” Perez-frangie (Balrog, E.Honda) from PR but lives in NY
7) Takashi “Dan from Japan” Hukushi (Ryu) Japan
7) Ricky Ortiz (Rufus) CA

As you can see it pretty much even from who from where. Players come from everywhere to compete against the best and be the best themselves. I know that from the tourneys I have been at and competed in; there are tons of EC players and many of them are top notch players. I’ve never been to tourneys in CA and I hoping that will happen soon and when that happens I would agree with you about the number of great players that are from CA.

Until then it’s the EC for me.
