Personally, what I believe makes up our community is COMMUNICATION. What simply lacks in the home console scene is the ability for each player to easily be accessible for questions and experience. In the arcade scene, you have the ability to go face to face with anyone you so desire, however, this is at the expense of your own for paying to play against these high ranking players. Even there, some of these players don't give very much information. As a young and upcoming player, you need to know what questions to ask; And before you can ask those questions you need to know where you stand in comparison. It's very hard to be able to communicate with someone on PSN/XBL with so many people grinding and failing to do their part in relinquishing to the players what needs to be done to step their game up.
There are several people working to help fix some of these issues. Sites like sf4answers.com, shoryuken.com, sonichurricane, and many others are available with discussion boards to help newer and intermediate players along, however, sometimes I believe that the amount of top level players who may offer support in comparison to the lower level players is so drastic, that not enough of the proper information gets filtered down, resulting in a huge bottleneck of skill level in comparison to the Arcade scene. So after a wall of text, what exactly should we be doing to improve the community? Continous work in the direction we've been going in, much patience, and many intermediate level players should really find one or multiple lower level players to help bring to their level. Top level players will obviously help prospect players they see potential in.
